Kaegan's Room

Amency and I painted Kaegan's room the night before last. It looks so good. Thanks Aunt Amency for all the help. Last night Marty and I with the help of Jerome and Richard completed the room by adding the bedding, curtains, toy box and table and chairs to the room. It is adorable.
Many of you know that Marty and I collect crosses and have huge cross wall going up the stairway of the house. It has over 170 crosses on it now and we had to carry the mattresses up the stairway with out breaking a cross. I did remove about thirty for safety precautions and believe it or not we did not break one!!! It was funny watching the guys dodge them each step. Atleast I was amused.

Paperwork

We mailed off some more paperwork yesterday. I sent it overnight so the agency should get it today. As soon as we hear from China in regards to our Dossier we can finalize the paperwork by getting our VISA's and schedule the flight. YEAH!!!

Everything is in China's hands now. Please pray that they review our files quickly so we can get our son soon.

Shopping

I went shopping today for the first time for Kaegan. I loved it. I found so many cute things. It was hard not to go overboard. Plus I am having to guess at his sizes so I setteled on 2T's and hoping that they fit. I haven't purchased shoes yet. Everyone has said that he will be between a 5 and 7. I will probably buy 6 or 7 just in case. I would rather them be to big rather than small. Anyway, that is all the news for the day.

Met with agency again!

Yesterday, I forgot to blog about our meeting with the local agency. Marty and I met with the local agency to complete one more form for the adoption. This was necessary because of his special need. The meeting lasted about 30 minutes and that was it. We are now waiting on the International adoption physician to contact us to have a phone interview about his medical records. This is a requirement. Hopefully this will be completed by Monday.

Conference Call

We had the conference call with the agency today. It was very good information about handling situations once we receive him. We discussed things like attachment, bonding and sleep. It really made us think a lot but the bottom line is that lots of love and kindness will fix these issues.

We also learned that we are approximately 7-11 weeks from traveling. That puts us traveling before or around Thanksgiving. We are so excited. That is much sooner than we expected.

We have an appointment by phone set with an International Adoption Physician that is recommended by the agency for next week. It is required to have them look at his records and give us a report. We also have another appointment with the local agency. Because of the special need that Kaegan has we must fill out more paperwork for the state. Both should not be big issues. We have 2 weeks to complete the paperwork and I think we can have it done by next Friday. Atleast that is my goal.

I asked the agency if I could blog his picture and they said NO! Not until he becomes ours. Marty asked if we would receive more than 2 pictures and her response was, "you will take the 3rd. " Crazy huh! We asked about his size for clothing and shoes but learned that we will not receive anymore information than we already have. So we will go by the growth charts.

Anyway, Marty and I will travel to Chicago this weekend for business so please keep us in your prayers. I will continue to blog when we get new news.

Registered for Preschool

Isn't this crazy!!! I registered Kaegan for preschool today. He will be 3 next year and everyone has said it is time to register so I did. Eastwood Baptist is where he will attend preschool. Yeah! That means I have less than a year to make sure he knows English, which he should because that is what they teach in the orphanage, and potty train him. Fun!!

We received the information packet in the mail today and have looked over it. We have to contact an International adoption physician and get his overview of the medical documents received from China. We also have more papers to sign and notarize. Marty and I worked on several of the items already. I hope to have the packet in the mail by the end of next week.

There are no knew pictures of Kaegan yet. I will find out tomorrow if I can post his picture. We have a conference call at 11:30 with the agency. We hope to have many questions answered.

More Documents

If you have been following the adoption process at www.roadtokamiko.blogspot.com then you are well aware of the documents needed in this adoption process. Well, the agency is sending more documents. Yes, that's right. More stuff to read, more papers to sign and more notarizing. I should receive the packet in the mail tomorrow. It has the documents on Kaegan, confirmation paperwork and a travel journal that will inform us of the timeline and what to expect from this point. We hope to have the answers to all of the unanswered questions that everyone has been asking. I will blog as soon as I get the information.

My Little One

My little one, my precious joy
I am waiting for you
My precious son, my little boy
I know you're waiting too

My little one, my precious joy
I'm whispering to you a prayer
My precious son, my baby boy
I hope to soon be there.

Safe and Sound

May you be safe and sleep soundly through the night,
May you be safe as you wake to the morning's light.

May you feel our love from so far away,
May it comfort and protect you throughout each day.

We will pray for you daily my little one,
Until our time of waiting is finally done.

We will pray that the Lord keeps you safe from harm,
Until the day we can hold you safe in our arms.

Kaegan Michiah Kent

We have decided to name him Kaegan Michiah Kent. Marty found the name Kaegan and I loved it. The name Michiah is a name that Marty and I decided on several years ago when we first began trying to have kids. We liked it because it fit both male and female. The name actually came from 2 Kings. Michiah blew the trumpet at the dedication of Jerusalem.

Marty and I have picked out the bedding for Kaegan and I am ready to start painting. We will keep Kamiko's room as it is and make the other guest room Kaegan's room. I have a lot of cleaning out to do before I can begin to do anything in there. That has been my junk room and the closet is a huge mess. I will be very busy this weekend.

I spoke to the agency yesterday and our acceptance letter has been sent to China. China will now look over it and send us documents to sign with our confirmation as his parents. Next we will apply for our VISA's and the child's and finally we travel to get him. This normally takes anywhere between 3-5 months. The agency said that they will rush everything so we can have him home by Christmas. Wow!! Wouldn't that be great!!

Marty and I are so excited. We have been talking about how Kaegan is already walking and is going to be moving around this house alot. I told Marty that the long plane ride home from China is going to be very interesting with a 2 year old. We talked about how we are going to have to get doggie gates to put at the top and bottom of the stairs so he doesn't climb up them or fall down them during the night. Anyway, I could go on and on about the things we talked about but I won't bore you. Just know that we are very excited and thrilled to finally be parents.

Keep on praying!!

It's a Boy!

On September 3, 2008 at 1:55 p.m. Marty and I confirmed that yes, we would adopt a precious boy. I received a phone call this morning from the agency that requested we send a childs medical information to our doctor to get a better understanding of his medical condition. The paperwork stated that the child has a congenital heart condition. I contacted our doctor who happened to be off today and she was kind enough to check her email and read over the documents. She also contacted a pediatric cardiologists in regards to his records. They both did not see any major concerns.

I called Marty, who is at home sick today, talked to him about what the doctors said and we both decided to pray quickly about it and call each other back. A few minutes later I called him because I could not wait to hear his response. We both felt that it would be selfish of us to deny this precious boy because of our desire for a girl. How could we possibly do that. The Lord has blessed us with 2 opportunities for a boy within in the last 4 weeks. I think He might be telling us something. Anyway, at 1:55 I contacted the agency and told them he was our son!!

YEAH!!!! We have a baby boy. He is 2 years old and was born on August 3, 2006. I would love to post his picture but I can't until we get an approval from the agency. We should have him home by Christmas. We are so excited and have lots of preparing to do. As you all know we are extremely prepared for a girl. I can't wait to prepare the place for our son.It is amazing how much love we have for him already and all we have are 2 pictures and medical documents. I know that this is God's Agape' love that is unconditional and everlasting especially now when we haven't even touched his precious hands or cute little cheeks.

Please continue to pray for us as we continue this process. I will post his pictures as soon as I can.

God Bless!
